A1 and A2 German language courses: What to expect?
The German language courses A1 and A2 belong to the entry levels according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). These levels are ideal for anyone who wants to get to know the basics of the language and lay the foundation for further progress. Upon completion of the course, you will be expected to have the basic language skills needed for everyday communication.
Let's explain it a little better and show you exactly what you can expect in each of these courses.
German language course A1
Using and understanding simple expressions and phrases After the A1 course, you will know how to use basic expressions to introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions, and how to communicate in everyday situations. For example, you will know how to find your way around a store, how to ask for directions, or how to direct someone. This level is your initial bridge to easy communication!
Communication in everyday situations
In this course you will learn how to navigate situations such as shopping, asking about the weather, looking up addresses, meeting new people and even ordering food at a restaurant. The A1 course prepares you for all basic interactions in German.
Grammar basics
Get to know the basics of German grammar! You will learn about personal pronouns, regular and irregular verbs, basic tenses (present and perfect), as well as building simple sentences. The grammar at this level is simple, but it introduces you to language structure that will be useful for you at higher levels.
Vocabulary
Although you won't be fluent right away, with the A1 course you will master words that are necessary for everyday activities - numbers, colors, family, housing and much more. Vocabulary at this level is the foundation that allows you to communicate in simple situations.
German language course A2:
Understanding simple texts and conversations
In the A2 course, we enter a slightly more complex world. You will learn how to understand simple texts and conversations related to everyday life, such as short messages, instructions, announcements and information. You will become able to navigate situations where you need to follow basic instructions and notifications.
Greater independence in communication
At this level, you will be able to communicate about topics that are familiar and close to you, such as work, hobbies, free time, travel, movies, health... all with simple sentences. You will be able to participate in conversations about everyday topics and get better at conversations.
Grammar and vocabulary expansion In the A2 course, you will further refine grammatical structures. You will learn how to use all other tenses (preterite, perfect, future tense) and more complex sentences. You will also expand your vocabulary on topics such as health, education, social activities and everyday problems.
Vocabulary expansion Wider vocabulary - greater confidence. You will be able to communicate on different topics with greater ease, which will bring you more confidence in communication. This level allows you to navigate all situations that require basic language skills.
